Community Outreach

Shiloh Baptist Church provides assistance through benevolence, food, outreach, and other necessary services through ministries and partnerships with organizations in the community. Our community outreach efforts have forged strategic partnerships throughout the community to offer the following life-enriching services for free or at a significant discount.

FREE Tax Prep
February 4 – April 12 at Shiloh Baptist Church in the fellowship hall

Empowering Neighbors, Inc. is a local 501 (c) 3 non-profit formed by members of First Baptist Church, Ashland, and Shiloh Baptist Church that operates a free tax preparation site in Shiloh Baptist Church. This free service is offered in cooperation with the local United Way and is certified by the Internal Revenue Service. 

Divine Assist Youth Program Weekly: Monday, Wednesday, & Thursday 5:30 PM at Shiloh Baptist Church in the fellowship hall

Divine Assist is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit youth program dedicated to providing a safe, supportive, and fun environment where young people can grow and thrive. In partnership with Shiloh Baptist Church, we expanded support and opportunities available to those in need. Together, we strive to create a lasting legacy of empowerment, growth, and positive change.

Registration is Now Open! EVERY Monday and Wednesday,  5:30 pm -7:00 pm, SBC, in partnership with Divine Assist, is hosting programs designed to boost reading and technology skills. 

Friendship Cafe
Weekly Meetings  |  Monday -Thursday 9:30 am to 1:00 pm at Shiloh Baptist Church in the fellowship hall.

What is a Friendship Café? The SPAN Center’s Friendship Café is a neighborhood gathering place for seniors 60 and older, where a hot midday meal, good friends, and diverse activities ensure that seniors remain active and connected to the community while meeting their nutritional needs.

There is no charge for participation in the Friendship Café.

Annual Fundraiser 

The mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. Consistent with the vision of our founder Danny Thomas, no child is denied treatment based on race, religion or a family’s ability to pay.

Each year the willing workers spearhead a fundraiser to collect donations in support of St. Judes.

Supporting Disaster Relief

The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors.​

Free Tax Preparation Assistance
The Hanover Department of Social Services is offering this service to individuals and families making less than $49,000 a year. You must bring your W-2, 1099 form, photo ID, Social Security cards for individuals claimed, and any income/deduction documents. If married and filing jointly, both husband and wife must be present.

Free Smoke Detectors and Installation
This service is offered by Local Fire Stations. Call 1-888-537-5967 to place a smoke detector order or for more information on this and other services offered by your local fire station.

Free Cell Phone and Service
This service is offered by Assurance Wireless and Safe Link. For more information contact Assurance Wireless at 1-888-898-4888 or Safe Link at 1-800-977-3768.

Mobile Food Pantry
The Central Virginia Food Bank and Shiloh Baptist Church partner with this program to provide food for families in need. To apply or for more information, please visit the Hanover Department of Social Services or call them at (804) 365-4100.

ACES

On a non-discriminatory basis, and in coordination with local social, mental health, safe house, and aging service organizations, collect and distribute food, clothing and essentials to individuals and families in need.
